The presented work is a sculptural sketch for the Fryderyk Chopin monument designed by Krzysztof Bednarski, which was unveiled in 2010 in Vienna. The author writes about his work as follows:

“The design of the Fryderyk Chopin monument “La note bleue” refers to the words of George Sand, who noticed an unusual “blue note” in Chopin’s music, a synonym of genius and the secret of creative inspiration. The designed monument visualizes this moment of creative tension and resonance, consonance of sound and timbre (colour). The type of representation comes from the tradition of profile images and portrait silhouettes, fashionable in the Romantic period. The characteristic shot of the composer’s profile is an easily recognizable, simple and symbolic image. It allows you to maintain the requirement of statuarity, and at the same time solve the monument with the means of modern art […]”. “
