Wincenty Kućma

As Jan Pamuła writes – “one of the most outstanding contemporary Polish sculptors. A creator, impressing with his energy and vitality and demonstrating in his work the mature craftsmanship of the Master, for whom there are no obstacles or secrets related to the transmission of his vision ”.

The artist in 1962. graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. He has exhibited his works at over 180 exhibitions in Poland and abroad. His works can be found in the collections of the National Museums in Kraków, Warsaw and Poznań, the Medallic Art Museums in Wrocław and Barcelona, ​​the Sofia Art Museum and the Dante Museum in Ravenna.

He was awarded, inter alia, The Order of the White Eagle, the Bronze Medal “Cracoviae Merenti”, the medal of the Pontifical Council for Culture-Per Artem ad Deum, the Order of Polonia Restituta, 2nd Class Commander with a Star, the Gold Medal “For Merit to Culture Gloria Artis”, the Gold Medal of the Holy Father John Paul II and award them. st. Brother Albert for creativity in the field of patriotic and sacred sculpture.

It is worth mentioning here the monumental Monument of the Warsaw Uprising, designed by Wincenty Kućma, in cooperation with Jacek Budyn, located near the Supreme Court building on the Krasińskich Square in Warsaw.

In 2000 he was honored with the “Equit Commendator Ordinis Sancti Gregorii Magni” given to him by the Pope for his activities in the field of sacred art (which was largely due to the construction of the cathedral in Irkutsk in Siberia).
